February 2026 Newsletter

New Door Code – A new members door code was issued via the email newsletter, please check your inboxes, this comes into affect from 1st February.

Car park

Please remember that our car park is one way. We are still having a lot of cars trying to go out the same way they came in and this causes congestion. Please exit past unit 5 and round the back to help with the flow of traffic.

February Holiday Clubs

We have some holiday clubs running on 16th and 20th February.  They are now live to book. More info and link to book can be found here: https://penkethgymnastics.co.uk/holidayclubs/ or please see the posters in the gym.

GymFusion

Good luck to the team of 25 gymnasts who are taking part in GymFusion Manchester on 1st February. Look out on our socials for updates and pictures/videos. Thank you to the coaches and choreographers for all their hard work!

New coach qualification

Congratulations to Faith, who has passed her level 2 coaching exam. Faith is a valuable part of the coaching team on a Thursday evening for our recreational classes.

Children’s Mental Health Week 9th– 15th February

The theme for Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 is ‘This is My Place’.  We are often told that children see gymnastics as a safe space for them.  As part of this, we are offering handouts for children to complete. They can tell us what they love about Penketh Gymnastics Club and we will produce a display. The handouts will be available on the front desk from 2nd February.

Assessment Week 9th-14th February

Our next assessment week starts on Monday 9th February. Gymnasts will be assessed according to our Penketh Levels. If they complete a level, you will receive an email to purchase the medal and certificate. If not, you can view your child’s progress on JoinIn. Please give us a week to update skills on the system.

Grades competitions

We took 12 squad gymnasts to Ace of Grades at The Wire in preparation for their NW Grades.  They all did really well, earning some great scores, feedback, medals and awards. For a full round up of the event and results check out our social media. We have 10 gymnasts competing at NW prep 1 and 2 this weekend and then 5 gymnasts taking part in NW development grades on 14/15th February. Good luck to them all!

Judging

We are currently looking to recruit new judges to support our gymnasts at external competitions. Due to an increase in the number of competitions we are entering, along with a reduction in the number of qualified judges available to us, we urgently need to expand our judging team.  For every competition we enter, we are required to provide a qualified judge for each day of competition. If we do not have an available judge, we are unfortunately unable to submit an entry. Becoming a club judge involves attending a one‑weekend training course, followed by an online exam. The club covers all costs involved in qualifying. We would love to hear from any ex-gymnasts, parents or grandparents who might be interested in becoming a judge. To help you find out Wednesday 4th February at4:15–5:00pm in the Parents’ Room. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and hear first‑hand what judging involves. If you are unable to attend the session but would like more information, please feel free to email Sarah or Catherine, and we’d be happy to chat further.
