Celebrating the People Behind the Magic – UK Coaching & Volunteers Week at Penketh GC

This week, we’ve been celebrating UK Coaching Week and UK Volunteers Week — and reflecting on just how much of Penketh Gymnastics Club’s heart comes from the people behind the scenes.

Our coaches aren’t just teaching gymnastics — they’re building confidence, inspiring belief, and creating a positive space where young people can thrive. Throughout UK Coaching Week, we’ve shared their wisdom, encouragement, and coaching philosophies as part of the #PassItOn campaign — advice that reminds us how lucky we are to have a team so deeply committed to each gymnast’s journey.

But just as important are the volunteers who help this club run day to day.

We’re proud of our grassroots approach to developing gymnasts into future coaches, starting with our brilliant young leaders — a group of 8 dedicated individuals who give up their time to support our recreational programme and learn the ropes from our qualified coaching team. These are tomorrow’s coaches in the making.

We’re also immensely grateful for our volunteer judges, who give up their weekends so that our gymnasts can take to the competition floor. Their time and expertise make a huge impact.

Our amazing parent helpers are the backbone of every event — helping with planning, decorating, setting up and stepping in wherever needed. Their commitment ensures that everything from club displays to competitions runs smoothly and with care.

This week is also a time to thank our Welfare Officers, who ensure the emotional and physical wellbeing of everyone at the club. They offer a vital source of support for gymnasts, coaches, and families alike — and we are deeply thankful for the safe and welcoming environment they help us maintain.

And finally, to our volunteer committee — made up of both staff and parents — thank you for guiding the long-term vision of Penketh Gymnastics Club. Your time, dedication, and behind-the-scenes effort helps keep the club moving forward.
